Research. Insight. Action.
I am a development researcher and consultant, based in Nairobi. I advise businesses, governments, and NGOs on ways to make markets and services--particularly digital ones--work better for all. My experience spans more than 15 countries worldwide, with a particular focus on Africa. I combine the tools of economics and anthropology to deeply understand problems and explore practical, real-life solutions. My most recent academic work examines the labor market implications of digitally mediated work (like through ride hailing apps) in Africa. I lead Ekko Insights, where my team and I help public and private players use digital tools to improve healthcare, education, credit, trade, and agriculture service delivery for ordinary people, especially women. I have a BA in Anthropology and International Relations from Eckerd College and Masters and PhD from The Fletcher School at Tufts University.
